Description

Following a mixup in this years rolling stock cascade, BR have provided several new services per day to and around Phorum Peninsula using loco hauled stock in place of the delayed delivery of Class 101 DMU's. Today, you will take charge of a service from Yeovil to Phetts Halt stopping at all intermediate stations before running ECS to the temporary TMD at Peninsula Shipping.

Briefing

Take a "top and tailed" Class 37 loco hauled service from the outskirts of Ash Row to Phetts Halt stopping at all intermediate stations before heading to the temporary TMD at Peninsula Shipping. Please be aware that once entering the TMD, you will be required to manually set the points to your final siding in order to be given the signal to proceed.

Requirements

This scenario requires no further downloads other than the Phorum Peninsula route itself.

I have uploaded it to my site, please check the "scenario downloads" section. The file is in .rar format so needs to be unpacked first before installing the .rwp via package manager.

NEWS - TRAM

Hi,
I'm sorry to give the news that the Tram will not be in the initial release of the Addon.
RS.com have been tracking a couple of crash bugs.(more on those later, but we found some interesting issues that could help the stability of RWs)

However, Richard Scott is looking into getting us a version back in the next day or so, we'll test then look to add the content and scenarios next week.

Loading Points

We have included a fully working 'swing arm' crane in the dockyard area in the North of the island. To go with this, we have a new conflat wagon with its freight asset. The freight asset is also placeable as a scenery object.

The S100 Tank Engine has a water point in the sidings just behind St Bilton.

And finally we have the narrow gauge quarry area complete with the new rock conveyer asset. Also included is an open wagon which can be loaded with rocks.

Here is an update on route building progress. Kind of scary but Adam has been off doing rolling stock blueprints for the past few hours and the artists are doing artistic things with assets; so I've been flying the route building flag solo for a while.

In short, I simply dont use the Snap to Terrain tool. Lay the road flat and use the gradient points to snap the road down to the hill side. Then using my simply trick of adding additional points and deleting the middle ones, you can quickly smooth out any harsh angles.

South Tip

I am starting to map out the south tip of the island, where the lighthouse will be situated. This is a narrow gauge passenger line and I am mapping out these few tiles with field boundaries and a few key landmarks before adding detail.

The line runs to a pub and viewing area at the end and passes through rocky scrub and some farmland. I am going to have to be strict with time and am going to limit myself to an hour to fill out this scene before moving on to a new area. Now however, it is time for some lunch!

Tile Map

This is a nifty little Tile Map. I have been using these since Train Simulator and it is a very handy way of keeping track of tiles, ownership and completion. Very important for managing long routes especially when multiple people are working at once.

At the moment, as Adam is faffing about with track there is not much in the route but by the end of the day all tiles should be green.

On the second page of the Time Map the numbers match up to the actual long tile numbers shown in the World Editor. On a normal working day I would expect to complete between 3 or so tiles of full scenery so today is going to be a real challenge; but there will be a couple of people working on it at any given time.

Tiles are approx 1km squares in RailWorks so this gives a sense of scale.

St Bilton - work in Progress

Been a busy weekend, however progress is being made to make sure that we are ready for the big day.
With regard to the main station I took some of Darlington's textures, and reorganised them and made some new textures for this and other stations on the peninsula.

Still very much work in progress (also missing the Clock tower, foot bridge and entrance) also lacking shadows or lighting is St Bilton.
When finished the station will be curved slightly.

'Phorum Peninsula' is the name of the land mass.

The name of the main town/station on the Peninsula is 'St Bilton' down on the west coast of the island.
